Canada-Wide Early Leaning & Child Care (CWELCC)
CHILDSPEC has opted to participate in the CWELCC program that was announced by both the Federal and Provincial Governments in March of 2022. Children under the age of 6, and receive care in a licensed child care operation are eligible to participate in this new program. Beginning on 1 January 2023, we reduced child care fees by 52.75% and are reflected in the fee schedule below.
The objective of the program is to reduce child care fees to an average of $10 / day by 2026. A further reduction is anticipated in 2024 with the final reduction to come in 2025. The exact amount of the next two fee reductions have not been announced at this time.
Fee Reduction Grant
The Region of Peel has made available to licensed child care operators a fee reduction of $6.00/day for children over the age of 6. The objective of this program is to increase affordability for families and to improve access to licensed child care in the Peel Region.
Before & After School Fee Reduction
On 13 October 2023, The Region of Peel announced a new pilot program to further reduce the cost of before & after school programs for children between 6 and 12 years of age.
Parents fees are now reduced by the original $6.00 plus an additional 50% reduction to arrive at the final daily rate.
